Distributed Processing of Filtering Queries in HyperFile

Abstract:

Documents, pictures, and other such non-quantitative information pose interesting new problems in the database world. We have developed a language for queries which serves as an extension of the browsing model of hypertext systems. The query language and data model fit naturally into a distributed
environment. We discuss a simple and efficient method for processing distributed queries in this language. Results of experiments run on a distributed data server using this algorithm are presented.
