Lester Mackey Receives CRA's Outstanding Undergraduate Award 2007
November 30, 2006
Congratulations to Lester Mackey who has been selected as one of two winners of the Computing Research Association's Outstanding Undergraduate Award 2007.
The annual CRA Outstanding Undergraduate Award Program recognizes undergraduate students who show outstanding research potential in an area of computing research. Nominations are made by the student's department.
Nominees must attend a university or college located in North America, and must be nominated by two faculty members and recommended by the chair of their home department.
The award committee looks for demonstrated excellence of computing research ability. The type of department in which the student is majoring and the area of computing in which the student has demonstrated ability are immaterial. What is important is the quality of the research work done by the student. The award committee also considers the student’s academic record and service to the community. Preference is given to students in their senior year (or the equivalent).
Congratulations also to David Weiss on receiving an honorable mention.
The Computing Research Association's mission is to strengthen research and advanced education in the computing fields, expand opportunities for women and minorities, and improve public and policymaker understanding of the importance of computing and computing research in our society.
