Diversity & Outreach

The Department of Computer Science at Princeton University is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. We value collaboration, critical thinking, and mechanisms to become more self-aware and accountable to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds can thrive in computing.
Ensuring students feel included in the classroom and beyond is a key focus in the department. We strive to ensure that all students, faculty and staff feel a sense of belonging. In 2023, the department hired an Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to serve in an inaugural role dedicated to supporting these values.

“Always, and especially now, this campus must stand firmly for equality, inclusion, and respect," said Princeton President Christopher Eisgruber. "Our community must be a place where students, faculty, and staff of all identities feel fully welcome, free to express themselves, and able to participate fully in the transformational educational experiences that Princeton offers."
Princeton University is committed to equal opportunity and non-discrimination. To maximize excellence, we seek talent from all segments of American society and the world, and we take steps to ensure everyone at Princeton can thrive while they are here. That is the sole rationale and purpose of our diversity and inclusion programs, all of which are voluntary and open to all, and which comply with federal and state non-discrimination laws. Princeton does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic, and Princeton does not provide special benefits or preferential treatment on the basis of a protected characteristic.
