Design Exam

Practice design questions

Time Wednesday, May 3rd from 11AM to 12:20PM.

Location

P03A, P04 and P04B: Robertson Hall 100.
everybody else: McCosh 10.

Seating is one student every other seat. Failure to go to your assigned room can result in a serious deduction on the exam.

Coverage

Lectures 1 - 21
Algorithms, 4th edition Chapter 4, Chapter 5, and Sections 4 and 5 of Chapter 6.

Policies

You will have 1h and 20 minutes for the exam. Students who have been approved for extra testing time accommodations by the Office of Disabilities can request accommodations by filling out the form which will be here soon.
The exam is closed book and closed Internet, except that you are allowed to use a one page cheatsheet (8.5-by-11 paper, one sides, in your own handwriting). No calculators or other electronic devices are permitted. Accessing any other information or communicating with anyone other than a staff member (e.g., via email, instant messenger, text message, etc.) is prohibited.
If there are extraordinary circumstances that will prevent you from taking the exam as scheduled, please fill out this form. Makeup exam requests will be granted only with the recommendation of a Dean or Director of Studies and our preapproval.

Governed by the Undergraduate Honor System.
Closed book, closed notes.
You may bring one 8.5-by-11 sheet (one side) with notes in your own handwriting to the exam.
You cannot use any electronic devices (including calculators, laptops, and cell phones) during the exam.
No makeup exams except under extraordinary circumstances, which must be accompanied by the recommendation of a Dean.

Office hours

The office hours for the weeks of April 23 and May 1 will remain as it was in previous weeks on the course's WASE calendar. You may attend office hours with and without booking an appointment (but people with an appointment have priority).

Be warned that previous courses might have covered different material or used different exam policies.

If you need to use a COS cluster computer instead of your laptop. It's a good idea to practice using the lab computers in advance; make sure you know how to use a cluster machine and set up a directory for the exam on your university H: drive that includes a copy of the necessary files.

Instructions to access H:

Hit Command-K or Go -> Connect to Server
Type files.princeton.edu
When asked, scroll down to the option that is your_netid and click ok.

To save from DrJava, navigate to Volumes/your_netid
To access from the Terminal, use cd ../../Volumes/your_netID

For more info on the cluster machines, see here. The same steps apply as set in that document except for item 4. Instead of downloading individual files, you want to download algs4.jar and set it up with DrJava or your IDE. For DrJava, go to Edit --> Preferences --> add to classpath.
