1. Install Microsoft .Net 2.0

  1. Click here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&DisplayLang=en
  2. Click the 'Download' button.
  3. Click 'Run', then 'Run' again when it asks you again.
  4. Accept the license agreement.
  5. The installation could take awhile.
2. Install Scribbler Control Program

  1. Click this: http://www.cs.princeton.edu/courses/archive/spring06/cos116/ExtractSCP.exe.
  2. Click 'Run', then 'Run' again when it asks you again.
  3. When the installation program runs, tell it to extract to C:\SCP.
  4. To run the Scribbler Control Panel, go to the C:\SCP directory and double-click SGPI.exe.
3. Install the USB/serial adapter

  1. Insert the black and red Parallax CD into the CD-ROM.
  2. Plug in the USB serial adapter. When the device installation program starts, tell it to look in the CD-ROM drive for the software for the device.
4. Download programs to the Scribbler robot

  1. In the Scribbler Control Panel, open a program, either via "File → Open..." or "Help → Sample programs".
  2. Either hit F5 or go to the menu item "Tools → Download to Robot".
  3. Sometimes this will cause a menu to pop up asking you to select a COM port. If this happens, enter "4".
  4. To run the program, hit the red button (quickly) twice. To stop, press the red button once.
