CS333 Project: Fourth Handout: Demo Information

Demos are on Thursday, May 10 from 1:00 to 5:00 in the regular classroom, room 103. The room will be available on May 9 and the morning of May 10 so you can check out your equipment. We can provide a Windows 2000 machine with Office 2000 and a network connection, but we need to know that it's necessary. If you want to bring your own laptop (highly desirable to minimize operational difficulties), you must arrange for roaming IP from CIT, then notify csstaff@cs so they can put you in local databases. Don't leave connectivity to the last minute.

No matter what you plan, it's prudent to bring transparencies that you can talk from in case something breaks.

As to content, the "trade show" metaphor is useful, but we are looking for more than just a glitzy demo. We're really looking for evidence that you accomplished something, that you learned something, and that you can present something clearly. You might think of

Plan on 25 minutes, to leave time for questions, setup and teardown, and other delays.

Grading criteria include the following:

I will bring a signup sheet for demo slots to class on Tuesday, and then post it outside my office. First-come, first-served.

This is still subject to minor fiddling so check back regularly.
