file. April 10, 2006:
Schedule 15 minutes to
discuss your project progress
and the topic of your in-class
presentation with Professor LaPaugh. This needs to be done by April 19.
Some students have already done this and need not do it again. Be
prepared to schedule your presentation. Your presentation may be
background material for your project or a separate topic of interest to
you. It cannot repeat material already presented in the
course. It must be at least 20 minutes in length, and you should
provide one or more readings that can be posted on Schedule
and Readings. A powerpoint presentation is encouraged.
The presentation requirement is also described in Work
of the Course.
April 5, 2006: The
solutions for homework 3 are now available as a pdf
file.
March 31, 2006: The take-home exam will be
available after class (12:20pm) on Thursday, April 6. It is due
at the beginning of class (11am) Tuesday, April 11, 2006. You
will be allowed
to use the following reference materials while taking the
exam:
your personal notes and problem set submissions,
the problem set solutions posted on the course Web site,
the text books by Baeza -Yates and Ribeiro-Neto, Grossman
and Frieder, and Chakrabarti on reserve for the course (see General Information)
any of the readings given on the Schedule
and Readings page of the Web site for the course. (Check the Schedule and Readings page for updates on the
readings and class notes.)
No
other materials are allowed.
