What I have done:
- Member of the MCB/ALAT design team during phase 1 (Team partner was Anoop Gupta).
- Read references to learn the details of the MCB. Read the Intel manuals to learn the details of the ALAT and how it differs from the generic MCB description.
- Studied the Lsim code for MCB/ALAT, decided to join these two into a single unit for the simulator.
- Designed the MCB interface for phase 1.
- Implemented the functions of the MCB. Wrote a random instruction stream generator to test/debug the MCB. The MCB is fully functional and works as planned across all parameter settings.
- Verified the functionality of the MCB using streams of up to 1 million instructions.
What I am doing now:
- Member of the verification team during phase 2 (Team partner is Johnson Wu).
- Currently working on the testing of the modules written by the teams during Phase1.
- Studied Lsim scripts and the details of full system simulation.
- Modified the Lsim parameter files to allow easier parameter overriding.
- Simulated the cache module using Lsim across different settings. Compared the results to the simulator output; the Lsim results closely matches simulator results.
